Deputies: Son stabbed father multiple times

Orange County man survives attack

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County deputies arrested a man they said stabbed his own father multiple times early Sunday.

Deputies were called to 2451 Wild Tamarind Blvd. around 6:40 a.m. Sunday about an aggravated battery call.

Deputies said they found 68-year-old David Burns with stab wounds to the head and chest.

Burns was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where deputies said he is alert and awake and expected to survive his injuries.

Deputies said 26-year-old Zachary Burns, the son, has documented mental issues. He reportedly fled the home after the attack, but later returned and was arrested.

Deputies said Burns had recently been released from a facility, where he was treated for mental illness.

Burns was taken to the Orange County Jail, where he will be booked for aggravated battery, deputies said.
