Police chase ends with crash into pond off I-4

Chase began in Eatonville; Driver taken into custody

SANFORD, Fla. – A police chase ended with a pickup truck crashing into a retention pond along Interstate 4 in Seminole County.

The crash happened Thursday off I-4 eastbound near State Road 46 in Sanford.

Seminole County sheriff's deputies said the chase began in Eatonville, with speeds estimated to be at more than 100 miles per hour.  Deputies used Stop Sticks to halt the vehicle, which crashed into the pond, according to officials.

The driver, identified as Quinton Stoutmire, 27, of Maitland, was taken into custody.

Stoutmire was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital for minor injuries and will be booked into the Seminole County jail.

He faces multiple  charges including fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, resisting with violence and driving on a suspended license, with the possibility of additional charges

Video from Sky showed a white pickup truck partially submerged in the pond.  Numerous law enforcement vehicles were at the scene.

No other details were immediately known.
