Sept. 11 events in Central Florida

Several events are being held in Central Florida on Thursday to commemorate those who died in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

8:00A - 3:00P Framing a Future, 6 Brice Lane, Palm Coast, FL 32167
Anyone interested in giving back to the community in horror of the events of 9/11/01.
This date was designated a national day of service by the 2009 Kennedy Serve America Act.

8:30A - Heroes Memorial Park, 2860 Palm Coast Pkwy., NW, Palm Coast
An honor guard, presentation of wreaths, plus the addition of Flager County Sherriff's
Sgt. Frank Celico to the Fallen Hero Memorial. The Palm Coast Mayor will speak along
with prayers from firefighters and police officers. A moment of silence at 8:46A.

8:30A - Dr. Phillips High School Air Force JROTC ceremonial flag-raising, Dr. Phillips High
School, 6500 Turkey Lake Road, Orlando, FL
JROTC cadets will do a ceremonial flag-raising and the playing of the national anthem
and TAPS at each time a plane crashed on 9/11

8:30A - Acclaim Academy Schools Commemorate 9/11, School in Orlando, Jacksonville,
Kissimmee, FL
Events to include, playing of National Anthem, President George Bush's address, and
wreath ceremonies. Events at each school may vary.

9:00A - Memorial Program, Fire Station #1, 439 West 5th Street, Clermont, FL
Guest speakers will include Sgt. Jeremy Johns(USMC), James Brown and Peter Capece,
(New York City Firefighters). A piece of the World Trade Center wreckage will be by the
stations flagpole.

12:00P - 9/11 Remembrance event, Seminole State College, 2505 Lockwood Blvd., Oviedo, FL
Event will run until 2PM. Students and faculty are being ask to place American flags on
the lawn in memory of 9/11 victims.

2:00P - TSA Employees share their stories, West Checkpoint, B Side, Orlando Int'l Airport
Employees tell their stories of why they joined the TSA and what their mission is.

5:00P - 9/11 Tribute, 3551 Avalon Park East, Avalon, FL
Firefighters and police will give tributes recognizing fallen heroes from 9/11

7:00P - Annual 9/11 Memorial Service, 9/11 Memorial, 520, Main Street, Windermere, FL
Mayor Bruhn and other officials along with the local Boy Scout troops will speak. First Baptist Church of Windermere members will perform.
