Police said a teacher saw bullets fall out of 15-year-old DeAngelo McCoy's pocket during gym.

When police arrived they found McCoy and asked if they could interview him. When McCoy got up to walk away from the lunch table, he grabbed the wrong backpack and tried to leave. A student said McCoy had his backpack.

Police searched both backpacks. Police found a semiautomatic handgun, magazine and 12 live rounds.

McCoy was charged with possession of a firearm by a minor, possession of a concealed firearm and possession of a firearm on school grounds.

"Fortunately no one was injured," a letter sent home to parents said. "Parents, please take the time to speak with your children about the importance of making smart choices."
