Investigators say Smith was attending a charity motorcycle ride in 2012 when his former gang, the Warlocks Motorcycle Club, showed up.

Investigators say Smith started shooting, which started a gunfight that left three people dead.

Smith says he was shooting in self-defense.

Three other people have already been convicted and are serving time for their roles in the shooting.
