Casselberry police arrest duo who knocked down woman, 82, in Publix robbery

Duo stole $12 worth of energy drinks from Publix, cops say

CASSELBERRY, Fla. – Casselberry police have arrested the duo they say knocked an elderly woman to the ground while stealing energy drinks at a Publix.

Matthew Pappu, 19, and Kristopher White, 17, were arrested on Thursday in the Tuesday incident at the Publix at 1455 State Road 436.

According to police, the duo stole $12.49 worth of energy drinks and were running from a loss prevention officer when they knocked Jeanne Brown, 82, over.

Police investigation found that White committed battery on an elderly person and Pappu didn't commit battery.

Pappu faces charges of retail theft and resisting a merchant. White also faces charges of retail theft and resisting a merchant.

Brown was taken to Winter Park Memorial Hospital and is being treating for a broken hip, according to her family, who tells Local 6 she was standing outside the Publix when the suspects knocked her down.
