Orange County corrections officer threatened man with gun, police say

Laura Hindman placed on paid administrative leave

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – An Orange County corrections officer was placed on paid administrative leave after she was accused of threatening her roommate with a gun on two separate occasions.

Altamonte Springs police on Wednesday arrested Laura Hindman, 49, on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A man claims Hindman threatened him in July with a semiautomatic handgun during an argument over rent payment.

About a month later, the man told police that Hindman again threatened him with a gun.  He said they had a disagreement during a discussion about her job, according to police.

Hindman was arrested after the information came to light and taken to jail.

Hindman was not supervising inmates in her most recent role with the department.
