Orlando cash advance clerk robbed at knifepoint

Video shows robbery inside Advance America off East Colonial Drive

ORLANDO, Fla. – A female clerk was robbed with a knife as she worked alone inside Advance America, a cash advance store off East Colonial Drive.

Only Local 6 received a copy of the video Thursday night. It shows a man dressed in a black sweatshirt and gray sweatpants walking into the store pretending to be a new customer.

Deputies said as the 26-year-old clerk went to a back room to grab an application the man followed her, coming behind the counter with a knife.

Another camera shows them coming back to the front, where she calmly hands him cash from several registers.

The robber then puts away the knife and demands she opens a safe. After grabbing the cash, the robber jumps over the counter and takes off.

Gary Lush works at Goodfellas Pizzeria, a restaurant nearby.

"That's pretty scary. If it was my situation I'd be scared as well," said Lush.

Lush said they weren't allowed to leave while deputies searched for a suspect.

"We had customers trying to come in to pick up food and our delivery drivers couldn't leave either because the guy is still on the loose," said Lush.

If you have any information on this robbery call the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
