Oviedo Lions squeak by Winter Park Wildcats

OVIEDO, Fla. – The Winter Park Wildcats have got the guts but they didn't get the glory Friday night against Oviedo.

Trailing 7-0 with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter, Winter Park's Gabe Jenkins grabbed a slant from quarterback Nick Sproles and turned on the jets, shaking off defenders on his way to the end zone for a touchdown of more than 60 yards.

The Wildcats decided against going for the tie, making the gutsy call to go for two and the win.

However, the Oviedo defense was ready, knocking down Sproles pass just short of the end zone then celebrating a 7-6 win.

Jurell Green scored the Lions' touchdown as Oviedo improved to 6-2.

Winter Park dropped to 4-4.
