Attackers armed with rifle, AR-15 try to break into home, Daytona Beach police say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A criminal mischief complaint filed with the Daytona Beach Police Department turned into an attempted home invasion case after police reviewed surveillance video.

The incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Royal Palm Condominiums. Police said a man woke up to a loud bang but didn't know it was an armed man on the other side of his door.

Surveillance video also showed two other masked men who were waiting downstairs, armed with what police said was a rifle and an AR 15. They were there for a few minutes before they ran off.

Police said the resident was intoxicated that night and didn't realize the damage to his door until the following day when he couldn't open it.

Neighbors said they heard a loud bang but saw nothing.

Police aren't commenting on the case until they gather more evidence in the ongoing investigation.
