Weekend events prompt road closures in downtown Orlando
DPAC events, Veterans Day Parade, Electric Daisy Carnival in town
ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is kicking off a weekend full of big events, especially within downtown Orlando.
The city of Orlando posted on its website a weekend watch notice with road closures and special events parking for Saturday.
The Veterans Day Parade will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, closing Orange Avenue, Amelia Street, West Concord Street, Livingston Street and Robinson Street 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. A detailed map of suggested routes was posted on the city's website.
The Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center will have a community open house Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. The Celebration of the Seneff Arts Plaza, starring Sheryl Crow, will be Saturday at 8 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public
The DPAC events will close Orange Avenue on Saturday between South Street and Anderson Street from 10 a.m. to midnight. The city recommends patrons to use Jefferson Street Garage and the Washington Street garage, along with the free LYMMO bus service to get to the performing arts center.
The DPAC will also have a community open house and family festival on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
The Electric Daisy Carnival will be in Orlando at Tinker Field Friday-Saturday. The city says patrons can use Lot 9 and Lot 10 for parking and can use the free Grapefruit LYMMO line at the Amway Center and Wells' Built Museum.
