ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A veteran in Ormond Beach said his Christmas is ruined after a burglar targeted his home and stole his holiday decorations.
Kenan Walsh said this isn't the first time this happened and that now, he won't be celebrating the holidays at all.
"I'm going to need an officer out here. Last night they stole our Christmas tree and our ornaments and decorations," said Walsh when he called police dispatch Sunday morning to report the theft.
Now, there's no sign of Christmas or lights at his home. The only sign is a handwritten one Walsh put in his front yard. The sign says "Thanks for stealing our Christmas tree you low life (expletive). Karma will catch up to you. Good way to treat a veteran."
"I like it. I hope the people read it who stole the tree," said Dave Cherrick, who lives across the street.
Walsh said he took down the remaining lights and decorations in his front yard, the Christmas tree in his house and is going to return the Christmas presents he already bought.
"I just think it's totally awful that someone would come and steal his Christmas tree off his front porch," said Cherrick.
Cherrick said he enjoyed sitting on his front porch and having Walsh's decorations to look at this time of year. But now, days before Christmas, it's pitch black.
"He took everything else down so there won't be no Christmas this year," said Cherrick.
There's a few distant lights keeping Christmas in the Ormond Beach neighborhood, but neighbors believe the Grinch lives nearby.
"How could somebody put presents under the Christmas tree down the road knowing they stole it?" said Cherrick.
