Man arrested for luring girl, 11, over phone, South Daytona police say

Cops: 19-year-old faces 3 charges, more pending

SOUTH DAYTONA, Fla. – A 19-year-old man has been arrested after South Daytona police say he lured an 11-year-old girl into having a relationship with him.

Grant Cameron was charged on Monday with use computer to seduce/solicit/lure a child, travel to seduce/solicit/lure/entice child and sending pornography to a minor over the Internet.

Police said they received a complaint from the girl's mother that Cameron was having an inappropriate relationship with her 11-year-old daughter over several websites, including Kik, Instagram and FaceTime after meeting him through a friend at school.

The mother told police she called Cameron on the phone before reporting the incident and told him to stop talking to her daughter, but that Grant kept sending her daughter lewd messages.

Cameron was arrested, and more charges are pending as the investigation continues to determine if Cameron and the girl had sexual relations, according to police.

Police said they fear there may be more young victims and to contact authorities with any other information.

Cameron was booked into Volusia County jail on a no-bond status.
