Off-duty Marion deputy hurt trying to approach suspect in Ocala

Deputy tried to approach motorcyclist accused of fleeing in chase

OCALA, Fla. – Marion County deputies have arrested the man they say hurt an off-duty deputy who was trying to approach him.

The incident happened in the parking lot of Home Depot off State Road 200 in Ocala on Wednesday night.

MCSO said the deputy approached Michael McCullogh, 29, who had fled from deputies during a recent chase.

The deputy is being treated for a shoulder injury and is in stable condition, the Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said McCullough was hiding out at a friend's house when he was arrested. Deputies also found his bike, along with the helmet and backpack previously described.

Multiple Facebook tips led to McCullogh's arrest, according to MCSO.
