Woman killed in suspicious house fire, Apopka officials say

Fire ignited on Christmas Eve

APOPKA, Fla. – Authorities are investigating after a transient woman was pulled from a suspicious house fire on Christmas Eve.

Apopka Fire Department and Orange County Fire Rescue were called to the blaze at the vacant home on North New Hampshire Avenue Wednesday evening.

When fire officials extinguished the fire, they found the woman and transported her to the hospital, where she died.

Neighbors tell Local 6 the home was vacant, but the transient woman was living there.

The circumstances surrounding the fire were not released. Authorities said another fire was reported a couple of blocks away and was also deemed suspicious.

The fires haven't been determined to be related.

The State Fire Marshal has been called out to investigate.
