Deputies: Man found passed out in car charged with child neglect

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man has been charged with neglect of a child and possession of cannabis after deputies found him passed out in his running vehicle with the child inside.

Deputies said when they approached Richard Wesley Davis' vehicle they saw several cans of beer in the car and a child sitting in the back seat.

Deputies said after many attempts they were able to wake Davis and do a field sobriety test. They reported observing that Davis was confused and appeared to be unable to answer questions that were being asked, adding that he smelled of alcohol.

Deputies said they concluded that at Davis' level of impairment he failed to provide the child with care and supervision necessary to maintain physical and mental health.

Also found in Davis' car as deputies attempted to prepare it for towing was a glass pipe and a green, leafy substance, which tested positive for marijuana.
