I-4 Mobility Partners win bid for I-4 Ultimate Project

$2.3 billion project will add 4 toll lanes to middle of interstate

ORLANDO, Fla. – Transportation leaders have chosen I-4 Mobility Partners as the company in charge of the Interstate 4 Ultimate Construction Project.

The $2.3 billion project will add four toll lanes in the middle of I-4 and maintain the existing free lanes for use. The Florida Department of Transportation will retain the toll revenue and control the rates of the tolls.

The I-4 Mobility Partners is an Orlando based team of leading global infrastructure developers and operators made up of Skanska Infrastructure Development Inc., John Laing Investments Limited, Granite Construction Company, Lane Construction Corporation, HDR Engineering Inc., Jacobs Engineering Group and Infrastructure Corporation of America.

FDOT said that it chose the I-4 Mobility Partners group because it was the best value to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the project. Four companies were in the running.

Construction is expected to start by the end of the year and could be completed by 2020.

As part of the project, 21 miles of I-4 from west of Kirkman Road in Orange County to east of State Road 434 in Seminole County will be reconstructed. More than 75 bridges will be replaced and 15 major interchanges will undergo complete construction.

FDOT said the project will ease traffic along I-4.
