Deputies: Blood found on door at Campus Crossing Apartments

ORLANDO, Fla. – Authorities have identified on Thursday the 22-year-old man found dead inside of an apartment complex near the University of Central Florida.

The incident happened inside the Campus Crossing Apartments at 12006 Royal Wulff Lane near UCF.

A woman called 911 around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday saying she heard someone had been shot. Dispatchers said they tried to get more details, but the woman stopped answering her phone.

Homicide investigators arrived at the apartment complex to search for evidence. Deputies went door to door, looking for witnesses.

That's when deputies found blood on a door and a man, identified as Colin Jackson, dead inside.

"When the deputies got here to see if anybody heard the gunshots, a deputy noticed blood on one of the doors that appeared to be fresh," the Sheriff's Office said. "We got maintenance there who opened the door for us."

Deputies said Jackson was not a student at UCF. Deputies are still trying to figure out if he lived at the apartment complex.

Deputies did not say how many time the man was shot. No descriptions were given for a possible suspect or suspects.

Witnesses reported seeing the victim and another man involved in an altercation before the shooting, according to deputies.
