DELTONA, Fla. – A Volusia County couple was arrested after deputies say a man told his girlfriend to hide crack cocaine from authorities in a baby's diaper during a traffic stop.

The driver of the vehicle, Reginald Hadley, 28, was charged with driving with a suspended license, possession of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana in the Thursday incident.

His passenger and girlfriend, Mercedes Williams, 24, was charged with possession of crack cocaine and child abuse after deputies say they saw her put the prescription pill bottle in the child's diaper.

According to the report, deputies pulled over Hadley on westbound Howland Boulevard in reference to a tint violation and smelled marijuana in the vehicle. Deputies said they found that Hadley was a habitual traffic offender and had a suspended license.

As Hadley was arrested, he told Williams to hide the pill bottle in her pants, according to the report. Williams then hid the pill bottle, which contained crack cocaine, in the baby's diaper, deputies said. She was also arrested.

The Department of Children and Families has been notified of the incident.
