Report: Man Tased by police after locking self in garage, refusing to obey orders


An Edgewater man has been arrested on accusations of pointing a gun at a 14-year-old.

Louis Milam, 43, has been charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and child abuse in the Sunday incident.

Edgewater police say Milam was drinking heavily throughout the day when he threatened and pointed a pistol at the teen.

He also put the pistol to his own head while laughing, according to the report.

When police arrived, Milam locked himself in the garage, refusing to come out. Officers came into the garage and Tased Milam when he refused to follow officer orders, according to the report.

Milam was booked into the Volusia County Jail.

The Department of Children and Families has been notified of the incident.
