Man arrested in Apopka carjacking, kidnapping

Clyde Jones arrested, taken to jail

APOPKA, Fla. – Apopka police on Monday arrested a man who they say carjacked and kidnapped  a woman over the weekend.

Clyde Jones, 22, was charged with kidnapping and robbery/carjacking with a firearm.

Police said the victim was waiting in a car in the parking lot of a Circle K on North Park Avenue in Apopka while her boyfriend was inside the store.  A man, later identified as Jones, got in her car and sped off, holding her at gunpoint, officials said

Jones then dropped the victim off at York Park and asked the victim where Florida Hospital Altamonte was, according to the report.

Police said the victim's vehicle was found at at home on Eagles Rest Drive with another tag on it. Jones and his girlfriend were at the home and Jones' girlfriend said he told her the car belonged to a friend.

The girlfriend also told police that she had given birth to their baby at Florida Hospital in Altamonte and had come home with the baby on Friday, but hadn't seen Jones from Saturday until Sunday.

Jones was being held on no bond.
