ORLANDO, Fla. – Family and friends of a sheriff's deputy killed in the line of duty held a memorial to mark the one-year anniversary of his death.
Deputy Jonathan Scott Pine was shot and killed by Benjamin Holtermann during a car burglary investigation on Feb. 11, 2014. Holtermann later took his own life.
The memorial ceremony, which is not open to the public, will include the dedication of a plaque to Pine at the intersection where he was shot and killed.
Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings and Pine's widow are expected to speak at the ceremony, which is expected to have about 200 friends and family.
Pine left behind a wife and three children.
