Cops arrest suspected apartment burglar

Christopher Woods, 27, arrested over the weekend

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies say a man was arrested over the weekend in connection with burglaries at Northgate Lakes Apartments.

A woman who called police Saturday around 6 a.m. said she heard someone trying to break into her apartment but when that person was unable to, she believed the robber may have gotten into the unit next door to her.

When deputies arrived they found that the unit next to the woman had been robbed of a guitar, wallet and computer as the residents slept.

Additional deputies who were arrived stopped Christopher Woods, 27, as he was leaving the apartment complex. He told deputies he was a resident but could not provide any identification and his vehicle was searched. Deputies said that's when they discovered the stolen items.

Woods was arrested on two counts of burglary to an occupied dwelling and two counts of grand theft, and was booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.

Deputies said after the arrest, investigators discovered Woods was also responsible for a burglary at the same apartment complex on Feb. 11, and he used the victim's credit cards at several locations.

Additional charges were brought against Woods for burglary to an occupied dwelling and petit theft.

Woods is being held on a $46,250 bond.
