TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The controversial ride-sharing service Uber is getting a boost from some Florida lawmakers.
Two bills were filed in Tallahassee that would make it easier for the carrier to operate in the Sunshine State.
State Rep. Matt Gaetz is backing a bill that would legalize Uber throughout Florida. The bill would cut local laws and leave regulation up to the state.
The other bill filed in the state senate would set statewide standards on insurance coverage and background checks.
