Florida lawmaker wants to ban smoking in vehicles with children

Bill seeks to prohibit smoking in vehicles with children under 13

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – A state senator from South Florida wants to ban the use of tobacco products in vehicles with children under the age of 13.

Sen. Jeff Clemens, D-Lake Worth, filed the bill (SB 548) in January.

A Senate committee is expected to discuss the proposed law Wednesday afternoon in Tallahassee.

If passed, the law would take effect Oct. 1.
