Disney announces sequel to 'Frozen'

SAN FRANCISCOThe Walt Disney Company on Thursday announced that its animation studios is working on "Frozen 2," a sequel to the blockbuster movie.

A release date for the new movie was not released, but the voice of Olaf, Josh Gad, confirmed that he will be back.  Kristen Bell, the voice of Princess Anna, tweeted that "dreams really do come 2," adding the hashtags FROZEN2 and itsofficial.


John Lasseter, chief creative officer at Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, said that directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with an original idea for the new movie, adding that more information about the sequel will be released soon.

A short film, "Frozen Fever," opens Friday, with Disney's live-action remake of Cinderella.  In the short, Elsa develops a cold while planning Anna's birthday party.

"Frozen" set records for Disney, becoming the top-grossing animated film in box office history, and it won Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for the tune "Let It Go."
