Man lured girl, 16, into gang rape, Palm Bay police say

Cops: Teen met 22-year-old on Facebook, agreed to meet up

PALM BAY, Fla. – A Brevard County man is behind bars, charged with sexual battery after police say he lured a 16-year-old girl into a gang rape.

The alleged rape happened Monday evening inside of an apartment at the Pines Apartment Complex in Palm Bay.

The 16-year-old victim says she met Joevonte Petit-Homme, 22, on Facebook and agreed to meet up.

According to the police report, once she and Petit-Homme were inside, he picked her up and "flopped her on the bed" where he started to take her clothes off.

Then, the victim says four or five other males came into the room.

The teen told police that Petit-Homme and two others then started to hold her down and rape her. She apparently pleaded with them to stop, telling them that she had a boyfriend and that she wanted to go home.

But police said they kept going.

Petit-Homme was the only man in the the alleged gang rape that was arrested.

He was in court Wednesday at the Brevard County Jail where a judge ordered he be held on a $200,000 bond.

"Plus the judge imposed a GPS device so we can keep track if he makes bond," said Assistant State Attorney Gary Beatty. "We'll know where he is and what he's doing."

Police say more arrests could be coming in this case.

"This is still an ongoing investigation," Beatty said. "Palm Bay police is conducting a further follow up investigation regarding this and any additional details would be premature for me to talk about."

Local 6 is still waiting for an update from investigators about the alleged victim's condition.
