ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A section of the 408 highway in west Orange County was shut down because of a crash involving an Orange County sheriff's deputy, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The deputy was driving a Chevrolet Impala when responding to a call Saturday night.

As he was attempting to get around traffic, the deputy tried to avoid a car that began to pull into a lane ahead of him, troopers said.

The deputy then went off the road and struck a small tree, according to FHP.

Troopers said the car caught fire, but the deputy did not suffer any serious injuries.

Two westbound lanes of the 408 were still blocked late Saturday.
