Broken ride at Florida festival strands guests in air for hour

Firefighters rescue riders in Lehigh Acres

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – A trip to a Florida festival took a scary turn for many visitors after guests were left stranded on a ride for more than an hour.

Firefighters used a ladder to rescue passengers from a ride called the "Power Surge" at the Lehigh Acres Spring Festival.

No one was hurt.

The company that operates the the ride, Modern Midways, says it recently purchased the ride.

The office manager believes a hydraulic pump may have failed.
