Couple shot while watching TV inside Orlando home

Woman critically injured in shooting at Tymber Skan apartments

ORLANDO, Fla. – A couple watching TV was shot late Tuesday when someone fired several gunshots into their Orlando home, deputies said.

The shooting occurred around 11:45 p.m. at the Tymber Skan apartments near John Young Parkway.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, a man in his 50s and a woman in her 40s were sitting on a couch watching TV when the shots were fired into their home.

Deputies said the woman was struck several times and was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition.  The man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was also taken to ORMC.

"Their couch is placed right next to a window.  Those rounds came through the window, striking them," Orange County sheriff's Lt. Paul Hopkins said.   "There's somebody out there on the run that tried to kill two people tonight, and we need to catch them."

K-9 units and a police helicopter were used in a search for the shooter, but the shooter was not located.

An investigation into the shooting is underway.

No other details have been released.
