The launch window opened at 2:36 p.m. and extended to 3:54 p.m.

Onboard the 200-foot-tall rocket was an Air Force next-generation global positioning system satellite-- the ninth in the series of Boeing-built satellites that will separate from the rocket's upper stage and be on its way 11,000 miles into space.

The next launch is scheduled on April 10 when a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch at 5:42 p.m.
