Crash splits stolen car in half

Orlando businesses damaged in wreck

ORLANDO, Fla. – A car traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into two light poles, splitting the vehicle in half and damaging several businesses in Orlando, police said.

The crash happened around midnight Thursday on Colonial Drive near Mills Avenue.

According to Orlando police, a stolen vehicle was speeding when the driver lost control and crashed into the poles and Sunny's Nail Supply.

Police said a person, identified only as a juvenile, was found trying to run from the scene but was arrested.  The juvenile was wanted on eight warrants for charges including burglary with a firearm and grand theft, officials said.

An investigation is ongoing to determine if the juvenile found at the scene was the driver and only occupant of the car.

The owner of Sunny's Nail Supply said that the store will remain open for business.

Colonial was shut down in both directions between Mills and Shine but later reopened.
