Driver identified in suspicious incident; Deputies say no crime committed

Driver told girl to 'Come here' 4 times, followed her as she walked on sidewalk

POINCIANA, Fla. – Authorities have identified the driver who was involved in a suspicious incident where a 15-year-old girl says he tried to lure her over to his truck, but say no crime was committed.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office said the suspicious incident happened March 17 in the area of Monterey Road and Brentford Court in Poinciana.

Deputies spoke with the teenage girl who told them at 3 p.m. she was getting off a school bus when a male driver driving an older, shiny beige-colored truck slowed down and turned around.

The driver told the girl to "Come here" four times. Deputies said each time the girl said, "No," but the driver continued to follow her as she was walking down the sidewalk.

Eventually, the driver left the area.

Deputies said they spoke with the driver, a 19-year-old man, told deputies he thought the girl was an adult and he asked her to come over to his truck so he could talk to her.

He had no prior criminal history and detectives have unfounded the incident and closed the case after determining no crime was committed.
