Teen girl dies in Volusia rollover crash on I-95

FHP says Brianna Nelson, of Edgewater, died in single-vehicle wreck

EDGEWATER, Fla. – A 17-year-old girl was killed early Friday in a Volusia County crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Brianna Nelson, of Edgewater, died in the crash, which occurred around 1 a.m. on Interstate 95 at mile marker 251.

According to the FHP, Nelson was driving a Suzuki Forenza south on I-95 near State Road 44 when she left the roadway for an unknown reason and her vehicle overturned.

The FHP said the vehicle flipped back onto its tires and crashed into a tree before flipping back onto its roof.

Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

According to an FHP report, Nelson was not wearing a seat belt.

An investigation is ongoing.
