Man's car damaged, vandalized outside of his home, deputies say

LAKE MARY, Fla. – Seminole County deputies have arrested two juveniles who they say vandalized a vehicle with racial slurs.

The two juveniles, who were not identified by deputies, were charged March 23 with criminal mischief. The charge was considered a hate crime, which elevated the charge to a first-degree misdemeanor, according to a report.

One of the suspects, age 16, lives in the same neighborhood as the victim and the second suspect, age 17, lives in Longwood.

Deputies said the juveniles used white car chalk to write racial slurs on Mutema Kudakwashe's white Nissan Xterra in the cul-de-sac in front of his house on Serena Place.

The passenger side front turn signal was also broken out, according to the report.

Deputies said they were led to the juveniles by several text messages of racial nature. The juveniles' parents were contacted and after questioning, they were booked into the Juvenile Assessment Center.
