Victim's brother arrested on drug charges, no charges filed in shooting

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies are investigating after a 28-year-old woman showed up to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City on Tuesday night with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, identified as Xiomara Rivera, said she was shot in Deltona, but deputies said she gave investigators conflicting information about how she was shot.

Rivera was dropped off at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial but was later taken by ambulance to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach.  Officials said her injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening.

Deputies arrested Rivera's brother, Cedric Cruz, 36, on several felony drug charges, but he has not been charged in connection to the shooting.

Cruz was charged with trafficking in MDMA, possession of cocaine, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia, after a search warrant was obtained for his Lynn River Drive home.

The shooting incident remains under investigation.
