The crash happened at 1:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 27 at Cagan Crossing Boulevard near Clermont.

According to the FHP, Ira Caldwell, 92, of Davenport, was driving a 2006 Cadillac and pulled into the path of Alexandra Schultz, 20, of Clermont, driving a four-door Chevrolet.

The left front of the Cadillac hit the right side of the Chevrolet, causing the Chevy to travel onto the west shoulder of U.S. 27, striking the workers, all of whom died at the scene, troopers said.

The workers were identified by the FHP as Jeremy Bradshaw, 35, of Albany, Georgia, Dewey Summerlin, 34, of Franklin, Georgia, and Jeffrey Estes, 40, of Ringgold, Georgia. The trio worked for Service Electric Company, which is based in Tennessee but has offices in Florida.

Service Electric officials told Local 6 that they're "dealing with a loss right now," but would not comment any further.

Schultz suffered minor injuries and was taken to Southlake Hospital. Caldwell was not injured in the crash.

The FHP said charges are pending against Caldwell. He will not face any criminal charges.

Traffic on U.S. Highway 27 was backed up in the area as authorities investigated the crash.
