Fire officials battle nearly 20-acre blaze

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – A nearly 20-acre brush fire that shut down a major Port Orange road on Tuesday afternoon is now contained.

The fire was reported at the corner of Madeline Avenue and Clyde Morris Boulevard, shutting down Clyde Morris Boulevard because of the smoke.

Port Orange Fire and Rescue said afternoon winds refreshed the flames of what remained of a smaller brush fire from Monday night.

Fire officials suppressed the blaze on Monday, which was 3 acres at the time.
