4-foot water moccasin captured in Lake Mary backyard
2 girls playing in backyard, encountered snake
LAKE MARY, Fla. – A Seminole County man is issuing a warning after he captured a four-foot cottonmouth water moccasin in a Lake Mary backyard over the weekend.
Bob Cross told Local 6 he was contacted by the residents after two young girls were playing in their backyard, and one of the girls stepped within a foot of the snake.
The venomous snake would have inflicted a serious, possibly fatal bite to a person, Cross said.
Cross urges people to be careful where they put their hands and feet when trimming bushes, spreading mulch or weeding.
