Mount Dora firefighter rescues, then adopts kitten trapped in wall

MOUNT DORA, Fla. – After several attempts to rescue a kitten from a wall in their home, residents called the Mount Dora Fire Department for help.

Firefighter Tara Holcomb was able to reach through a small hole in the wall and rescue the kitten.

The residents believe that the kitten's mother may have dropped it while walking through the attic.

The kitten was only a few days old, and wasn't able to open its eyes yet.

After the rescue, the homeowners kept the kitten and made a bed for it hoping that the mother would return. She never did.

Holcomb checked back with the homeowners, who said that the kitten was recovering but they would not be able to keep it.

Holcomb then decided to adopt the kitten who she rescued. She named it Wall-E.
