Crash backs up traffic on southbound 417 in Orange County

ORLANDO, Fla. – Two children were injured, along with three adults, in a crash on State Road 417 on Wednesday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred on southbound SR 417 near mile marker 30. A vehicle was driving northbound on 417 when the driver attempted to change lanes and struck the side of another vehicle.

The second vehicle, a Toyota SUV, was pushed toward the center median, struck the guardrail and overturned into the southbound shoulder.

The five people in the SUV, who were from Plantation, Florida, suffered minor injuries. A 7-year-old and a 5-year-old were also hurt in the crash.

The driver of the first vehicle, Leslie Castillo, 21, was ticketed for an improper lane change.

A small fire was also extinguished, authorities said.
