Orlando International Airport to offer flights to Cuba in summer

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando International Airport will offer flights to Cuba this summer, officials announced on Thursday.

Island Travel & Tours said it will begin nonstop flights from OIA to Havana, Cuba beginning July 8.

Initial service will be offered once a week on Wednesdays with ITT adding a second flight on Sundays later in the summer, according to a release from the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

Nonstop flights will depart MCO at 12:30 p.m. and arrive in Havana at 1:55 p.m. Return flights will leave Havana at 3 p.m. and arrive in Orlando at 4:20 p.m. 

Officials said approval from U.S. Customs and Border Protection is required before travelers can fly from Orlando to Cuba.
