Teen kidnapped, father beaten in Orange County home invasion

Gunman sought after attack in gated Lake Gloria Shores community

ORLANDO, Fla. – A teenager returning home early Thursday in Orange County was kidnapped at gunpoint by intruders who ransacked his parents' home, according to deputies.

The home invasion and kidnapping occurred around 3:40 a.m. at a home in the gated Lake Gloria Shores community off Lancaster Road in south Orlando.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the 19-year-old returned home after being out all day.

"The son knocks (on the door) and says, 'Dad, they've got a gun to my head," Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jeff Williamson said.  "The father lets them in, and apparently both father and son are pistol-whipped -- appears the father got the worst of it."

Williamson said the assailants stole items from the home, including several electronics.

The son was then kidnapped in the family's van, which was found a short time later, according to deputies, who added that the teen was also located in good health.

The father was seen with a bandage on his head and blood on his face and shirt talking to investigators.  The teen's mother was home at the time of the incident but was not injured.
