Jones began her career with the city in 1998 as an administrative secretary. City officials said she was appointed deputy city clerk in 2003 and has been serving in that capacity since.

Jones is a certified municipal clerk and is in the process of obtaining a master municipal clerk certification through the Florida Association of City Clerks. The city said she is a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, the Florida Association of City Clerks and the Brevard County City Clerks Association.

In her role as city clerk, Jones is responsible for supervising three staff members who provide secretarial and administrative support to the City Council.

The city said in addition to these clerical duties she will also process the council meeting agendas, prepare minutes of council's business meetings, manage the recruitment and membership on city boards and committees, and coordinate the regular municipal and special elections with the Brevard County supervisor of elections.
