EDGEWATER, Fla. – The Volusia County Sheriff's Office and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are investigating after a man fell out of a boat and died in the Intercoastal Waterway Tuesday afternoon.
FWC officials said William A. Elder, 47, was alive when he fell out of the 14-foot vessel, but was killed when it circled back around and ran him over.

Authorities say that after Elder, who was operating the boat, fell overboard, the vessel continued running at a high speed in circles to the right, which is when it ran him over, causing fatal injuries.
The vessel finally ran into a nearby dock and stuck there until it ran out of fuel.
