Mother of dead motorcyclist sues Leesburg city commissioner

Jay Hurley faces wrongful death suit

LEESBURG, Fla. – A Leesburg city commissioner is now facing a wrongful-death lawsuit from the mother of a motorcyclist who crashed into his truck during last year's Bikefest.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the suit says Commissioner Truman "Jay" Hurley was negligent behind the wheel, which caused Stephen Tuttle to crash into his pickup truck.

Investigators say Hurley made an improper lane change into the path of Tuttle's motorcycle.

Tuttle suffered both skull and facial fractures and died after 15 days in the hospital.

The suit is asking for more than $15,000 in medical expenses, funeral costs and damages.
