Man shot to death in front of crowd in Apopka, deputies say

Search on for gunman after Debrand Blair shot in front of food truck

APOPKA, Fla. – A man is dead after a shooting in front of a food truck, and the person who pulled the trigger is still on the run, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened around 2:50 p.m. Saturday on Marvin C. Zanders near 15th Street.

Crime scene tape surrounded a food truck and the Fountain of Life Baptist Church on Saturday after Debrand Blair, 24, was shot multiple times in front of a large crowd.

Investigators said the gunman then took off in a car before deputies arrived, leaving a crowd of people in shock.

"To have a homicide in the middle of the day, it's a very blatant act," said Jeff Williamson, of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

"It's just too much young people being lost. Disillusioned," said Pastor Herbert Jackson Sr., of Fountain of Life Baptist Church. "We talk about it for a solution, we're trying to work out. It's happening so fast that we just can't get a grip on it."

Investigators said Blair was taken to Florida Hospital Apopka, where he died. No one else was injured. The motive of the shooting is still unclear.

The Sheriff's Office said it has a description of the gunman and the car being sought, but is not releasing them at this time. Deputies are speaking with witnesses for more details.
