DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Police say a man was shot and killed while driving on the Oakridge bridge.

The Daytona Beach Police Department said they are working a homicide at Oakridge Boulevard and Halifax Avenue Sunday morning.

The victim, Deandre M. Smith, 24, of Daytona Beach, was traveling eastbound on the Oakridge span as another vehicle traveling in the same direction fired shots at Smith. He was found in the driver's seat after the vehicle crashed into a curb in the parking lot of Scott Dental. Several shots were fired into the vehicle. It is not known how many shots hit the vehicle, police said.

The shooting may be the results of two separate incidents, one yesterday in Daytona Beach, the other at Papi on Nova Road in Volusia County, police said.

Officers said another person was in the vehicle at the time of the incident with the victim and is currently being interviewed.

No shooter or vehicle information is available at this time.
