OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A man driving a Chevy van was killed Tuesday after his tire blew out on the Florida Turnpike at mile marker 217 near Kenansville.

According to the Florida Highway patrol, Hubert Anderson, 46, of Tamarac, was driving north on the turnpike when his tire blew out, causing him to lose control of his van.

Troopers said his van ran off the highway, overturned, throwing him from the vehicle and killing him.

A passenger in the van, Leslie Anderson, 67, was airlifted to Holmes Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

All lanes were blocked, but one lane reopened around 8:30 a.m., troopers said.
