Orange County deputy shoots at robbery suspects after chase

ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orange County sheriff's deputy opened fire late Monday after a pursuit on Interstate 4 in connection with two armed robberies, authorities said.

No one was injured in the shooting, which occurred around 10:15 p.m. near John Young Parkway and Directors Row.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the Ale House at 12371 Winter Garden Vineland Road in Orlando for an armed robbery.  A short time later, another armed robbery involving similar culprits occurred in Osceola County, authorities said.

Osceola deputies followed the assailants into Orange County, and OCSO deputies began following the car on I-4 eastbound, officials said.  Deputies pursued the car to the area near JYP and Directors Row, where they attempted to stop the vehicle, which didn't stop and crashed, according to authorities.

Shots were fired by an Orange County sheriff's deputy, but no one was struck, authorities said.  It's not known why the deputy opened fire.

Two men, ages 27 and 33, were taken into custody, but no other details have been released.
